The police have been directed to take strict action against those who open shops and unnecessarily go about on their vehicles in the city. More than 2,000 vehicles have been seized, 9,000 mask violation cases, 270 Epidemic Act cases and 170 NDMA cases have been filed. Vehicles once seized will take about 2-3 months to be returned by the court as these cases are of last priority.

The ASI of Mangaluru East Traffic Police lost his brother’s son, an engineer in Bengaluru, aged 32 recently due to COVID-19. Hence, the youth were urged to not take the pandemic lightly and move about unnecessarily. It was told that the awareness among people to take responsibility and stay indoors must stem from within and not from the fear of the police.
