Ramadan Fasting Commences From Today in Mangalore & Udupi

The Holy month of Ramadan is set to begin in Dakshina Kannada from Thursday, March 23, as confirmed by the Central Jumma Masjid’s Khatib Al Haji Abul Akram Mohammed Bhakavi, on behalf of the district Kazi Al-Haj Twaka Ahmed Musliyar.

Similarly, Khazi Shaikhuna M Abdul Hameed Musliar, following the sighting of the new moon at Calicut, Kapad, Udupi district, has also declared that fasting should commence from Thursday. Muslims worldwide will be observing this month, which involves fasting from dawn to dusk and abstaining from not just food but also worldly pleasures. Fasting during Ramadan is considered one of the five pillars of Islam, and it concludes with the celebration of the Id-ul-Fitr festival.
