The Country marks the lowest number of cases in 202 days

The number of Covid-19 cases has fallen below 20,000 since March 2021. This was seen after a southern state recorded 11,699 cases, the fewest in the past five weeks. The number of cases dips every Monday due to the non-availability of staff during weekends. After the post-onam surge, Kerala has been accounting for 60% or more of the cases in the country.

Monday’s tally of Kerala was the shortest since August 22. The number of cases went from 10,402 to 31,445 between 10th and 25th August. Deaths from the virus have also fallen to 178, which is again the lowest toll since March 22. There has been a sharp downfall in deaths in Kerala as well. The number of fatalities fell from 165 on the previous day to 58 deaths on Monday.

The daily number of cases also fell due to the fall in the number of tests conducted on the previous day. Maharashtra reported the fewest count since February 8 with a count of 2,432. While 2,216 cases were detected in Mizoram, 504 new cases were in Karnataka, 618 in Andhra Pradesh, 472 in Bengal, and 444 in Odessa.
