The Role Of Civilians In Taking a Step Towards a Collective Welfare – “Kudla COVID Volunteers”

The tireless endeavors of responsible civilians have always resulted in keeping Mangaluru safe from Covid-19, by introducing “Kudla Covid Volunteers” such an innovative measure had been put forward by the citizens of Mangalore.

Kudla Covid Volunteer is a task force initiative by three friends, Vaishnavi (Programme Officer,WFP), Satshya Tharien (Content Creator) & Masha Arabi (PR Professional) who were keenly following the development in worst hit cities and were witnessing a surge of Covid-19 cases, which they didn’t wanted to cause an impact and reek havoc on their city and thus they wanted to protect the Covid positive patients of the city and their caretakers in Mangalore to face the alike trauma.

Inspired by the SOS Covid calls on Social media from bigger cities like New Delhi, Bangalore and Mumbai, this trio brought down the idea of creating the most wanted resources to the needed and to serve as the helping hands of Mangalore city

Eight other volunteers namely Vyshali Shenoy (Law Student), Shalmalee Ghate (Senior Revenue Specialist), Samantha Machado, (Business journalist), Mithun Bhat Kakunje (Entrepreneur), Shilpa Kaushik (Entrepreneur), Srilatha Nagaraj ( Dance Teacher/ Artist), Alexander Caro (Technical Consultant) & Prathik Hegde (Medical Consultant) joined the team to collect genuine information regarding Vaccines, Oxygen cylinders, Plasma, Ambulance and other commodities and worked tirelessly with a vision of overall welfare and in helping the citizens of the city

Each volunteer had the in charge of a particular category, For example; oxygen or plasma and they regularly updated the availability of resources in their sector, so that they can quickly avail verified resources instead of going through the dead leads and misleads.

The Civilian task force focuses to tackle further complications that are faced by the citizens of the city in this Covid 19 by including services such as serving food, facilitating doctor consultation via video conference or over the telephone and so much more are included as an immediate plan.

Social media platforms like Instagram, Twitter, Whatsapp and their website (kudlacovid.cms.us) is actively having their presence in updating every information concerning the availability of the resources needed by the city and its citizens.

Till now the unfaltering efforts of the organization have been well recognized and the public response has been really good from the people in matters regarding the functioning of the organization and the morals it aspires for through its deeds. Furthermore the team is working really well and swiftly to keep the good work on and reduce the general panic among the citizens . “We will like to do more and support ongoing efforts of the Government” said Vaishnavi-Founder of the Kudla Covid Volunteers

In the wake of such a disastrous epidemic and as the third wave of the pandemic is closing in, every person should aspire to live a life that aims at the collective welfare, this beautiful moral is brought into practice by the Kudla Covid Volunteers and the city is forever indebted to its works towards creating a better tomorrow and citizens like Vaishnavi, Marsha Arabi and Satshya Tharien are really a model and a boon to Mangalore city.
