The Second Wave is not over yet, warns the union government.

After the southern state marked one lakh active cases, the central government has put forward a strict warning on following covid guidelines. The Union secretary told the media that the months of September-October are crucial amid the festival season.

While one state reported one lakh plus cases, four other states have 1,000 to 1 lakh cases. He added that we are still in the midst of the second wave and we need to take high precautions in view of the festive season in the months of September and October. 

As the Covid vaccines are disease modifying and not disease preventing, we need to use face masks even after getting vaccination. In the last 24 hours, 80 lakh doses of vaccines were administered in the country. Except for Kerala, which reported 58% of the total cases, all other states are showing a declining trend in the number of positive cases. 

A total of 17,87,283 tests were conducted on Wednesday, making the cumulative count for the country 51,31,29,378. The test positivity rate is 2.58 per cent, while the test positivity has remained below 3 per cent in the last 32 days. India’s total tally has increased to 3,25,58,330 while the active cases are 3,33,725. The fatality roll has reached 4,36,266 with 607 recent deaths.
