Signs of a third wave have been showing up in some parts of the state. Strict precautionary measures have been taken in the districts that share a border with Kerala indeed to ensure that the infection does not spread.
A member of the Karnataka State Covid Technical Advisory Committee said that the first and second waves are case in point. He added that based on the observations from the previous waves, the government cannot show leniency in tackling this wave. Covid safety measures need to be taken precautions. He also said that the reason for the second wave pandemic affecting the state adversely was due to the leniency of the government.
About 15 major festivals are to be celebrated this month. Apart from these are the local village festivals coming up. The government needs to act swiftly and enforce shutdowns in order to avoid these festivals inviting mass gathering. He also told the reporters that covid cases in the state increases corresponding to the increase in neighboring states.
The state has not reached dangerous stages in the number of cases while this can be maintained only if stringent measures are taken. In case of not implementing enough measures, things will go out of control. The positivity rate of Dakshina Kannada has increased from 3.05 per cent to 6.04 per cent while in Udupi it has increased to 5 per cent in a fortnight.
The numbers tourist’s has also increased in Dakshina Kannada and Udupi. Malpe Beach has a huge number of visitors on weekends. Apart from this a huge number of devotees are seen in certain religious places of worship after the unlocking. It was noticed that many among the crowds did not wear masks or follow any of the covid SOPSs. The civic body Chief Commissioner of Bengaluru said that he will be arranging a meeting with the members of various resident welfare associations and other associations to discuss methods to curb the spread of infection.
