An alarming number of COVID-19 deaths have been recorded in the state with almost 100-200 individuals succumbing to the virus each day. In the wake of this crisis, a government order was issued designating about 230 acres of land towards building a temporary crematorium to accommodate cremations. 23 parcels of land spread across different areas of Bengaluru urban and its suburbs have been identified.

While the scheduling of slots for the third phase of the vaccination drive at private and government centres will begin only after the state receives allocated supplies, individuals above 45 years of age eligible for vaccination can avail the same at all government centres even after May 1, 2021.

The Karnataka government has placed an order to procure 1 Crore doses of the vaccine, in an attempt to accommodate the vaccination drive for the citizens belonging to the age group of 18-44 and will roll out the third phase of vaccination only after the required doses are received.
