As part of Swachh Survekshan 2022, The Manguluru City Corporation (MCC) has been requesting people to submit citizen feedback, but the response to the online survey has been atrocious
It is mandatory for the MCC to get a minimum of feedback from 15,000 people to compete with other urban local bodies across the nation, but so far, less than 1,500 people have submitted their feedback, though Tuesday is the last date. Officials say that there are technical snags related to the server, that makes submission of citizen feedback difficult online.
Swachh Survekshan 2022 is being conducted by the ministry of housing and urban affairs (MoHUA), Government of India, covering all cities across the country.
An official of the MCC told that the ministry may extend the last date for citizen feedback till April 15. However, no official communication in this regard has been received. Citizen feedback is a main component of the Swachh Survekshan survey. There are issues related to the portal which need to be rectified immediately by the ministry. Technical snags were reported when a large number of people attempt to submit feedback at a time, the official said.
One important component of Swachh Survekshan 2022 is aimed to bring swachhata (cleanliness) within the city and neighbourhood by getting citizens’ feedback. Citizens will have to log on to https://ss-cf.sbmurban.org/#/feedback and enter their phone number and OTP to participate in the feedback. Thereafter, four questions are given to understand whether citizens are aware of the Swachhata app, waste segregation, Swachh Survekshan survey and waste reuse or recycling.
MCC commissioner Akshay Sridhar said, “Mangaluru is indeed a beautiful city when compared to other cities. The positive feedback to the Swachh Survekshan from the citizens is important to increase the ranking of the city.
Mangaluru city was ranked 63rd in the Swachh Survekshan 2017, 52nd rank in 2018, 165th in 2019 and 192nd rank in 2021. In 2020, there was no Swachh Survekshan competition.
