The district child health officer announced that the mega vaccination drive on September 17 has increased the overall vaccination penetration. The district administered 1.4 lakh doses of vaccines during the mega vaccination drive. Vaccine meals are being held every Wednesday. Nearly 30,000 doses are being administered at the Wednesday meals. The district has already vaccinated 100% of the population under the category of over 60 and the frontline workers.
5.3 lakh doses have been administered in the past 25 days. The district is at the verge of achieving 100% vaccination in the districts. More than 15 lakh people have received their first dose while 6.3 lakh people are fully vaccinated. The health department of the district is looking forward to fully vaccinating everyone, at least with the first dose.
In the 45-59 age group, 97% of them have received their jabs. Out of those, 55% have taken their second dose as well. 97% of healthcare workers have taken their first dose, out of which 69% of them have received both doses. 70% of the population belonging to the age group of 18-44 years old has taken their first doses as well. The achievement is significant as the vaccination drive for this category only began in May 2021.
