Five more Omicron cases were detected in Karnataka, tally at 43

The state reported five new Omicron cases yesterday. Four of them have traveled overseas before, including the United States, Dubai, and Ghana. A domestic traveler is the fifth person. The official number of cases in Karnataka now stands at 43. Four of the patients were properly vaccinated, and one of them, a 22-year-old woman who arrived from the US on December 22, even got a Pfizer booster dose.

One example, a 53-year-old Tamil Nadu native who landed at Kempegowda International Airport from Dubai on December 23, had his vaccination records inaccessible. This individual had left the airport without waiting for the results of his RT-PCR test and was traveled to Tiruchirapalli, where he was informed of the test result. The health minister mentioned in a tweet that “all positive patients have been isolated, and main and secondary contacts have been identified and tested.”

The remaining cases are a 24-year-old Bengaluru man (who returned from the United States via Qatar), a 61-year-old Bengaluru man (who flew in from Ghana via Doha), and a 41-year-old Mumbai local (who was determined to be positive upon arriving in Mumbai from Bengaluru on December 23).
