Karnataka To Introduce Bill To Free State Temple’s From Govt Control

Karnataka’s Chief Minister announced on Wednesday that a new bill is being considered to free temples and religious organizations in the state from government control. As per the Chief Minister, temples would be allowed to conduct their activities under control.

The new law, as per CM, will be proposed in the next state Assembly session. On the advice of top authorities, he stated, the state administration has chosen to make the “historic decision.” Temples that have been abused by officers and officials will be liberated. They will now be responsible for their growth. In the coming session, they want to introduce a new measure that would liberate our temples from governmental supervision. Temples will be able to run their affairs and operate freely with just a few restrictions.

The bill proposes imprisonment with a fine of Rs 25,000 for violation of provisions concerning minors, women, SC/ST, offenders will face a jail term of three to ten years. The Karnataka Assembly passed the Karnataka Protection of Right to Freedom of Religion Bill, 2021, which provides for the protection of the right to freedom of religion.
