The state government is introducing self-defense skills training at post-matric residential schools to empower girl students. The administration has already sent out a letter, and classes will begin in the first week of January. More than four million students across the state will get karate, judo, and taekwondo training.
This project will help teenage girls in residential schools who have finished their 10th grade. This project would include students from 4245 government high schools and 441 PU colleges. Trainers will be paid a fee of Rs 4,000, with each pupil getting a one-time payment of Rs 500. A total of Rs two crores has been allocated for this project. At least twice a week, trainers must visit the hostel. Each class will last 45 minutes. They have three months to complete 20 classes.
This academic year’s training will take place from January 1 to March 31. It will be available for the whole school year, starting with the next academic year. This training would give girls self-confidence and make them ready to confront any unfavorable scenario, “a social welfare department worker explained. They have already chosen martial arts teachers.
