DK: Projects worth Rs. 880 crore are promised for the city

The Union Minister for Ports, Shipping, and Waterways has promised the Dakshina Kannada district projects worth Rs. 880 crores under the Sagar Mala Yojana. The projects would be conducted in the tourist, fishing, port, and waterway sectors.

The proposed projects also include the construction of a jetty, a cargo terminal, and a cruise terminal for vessels sailing between Mangaluru and the Lakshadweep Islands for an estimated cost of Rs. 350 crores, the construction of a road to the old port for Rs. 98 crores, the construction of an all-weather port for Rs. 100 crores, beach development at Bengre for Rs. 10 crores, setting up a floating jetty in Mangaluru for Rs. 10.68 crores, and waterway development.
