Ramesh Mijar of Kalashree Bedra, who has been overseeing a “Pili Vesha” troupe for the prior 19 years, will shortly begin an official Pili Vesha training programme for kids aged between 3 to 20 in an effort to capitalize on the traditional “Pili Vesha” or “Huli Vesha” (tiger Dance)’s popularity. The introduction of Pili Vesha training, which comes after Yakshagana and kambala, is essential for maintaining Tulunadu’s art and culture.
Boys aged 3 to 20 and girls aged 3 to 15 will both be able to attend the sessions. The training programme will teach 15 different sorts of stunts (acrobats), covering every part of “Pili Vesha,” according to the speaker, who noted that the tiger dance is becoming more and more in demand. Throughout Dasara, we have witnessed a number of contests for tiger dance troupes, both in the city and at the taluk level. Girls are showing increasing interest in dancing, and many youngsters are taking it seriously.
Every time they had the chance, many girls in the entire Dakshina Kannada district have performed the dance. This escalating passion inspired him to start teaching. To train the aspiring artists, Shetty Harish Polali, who coached the Puran Tigers, who took home five Pili Nalike victories, has also been brought in.
State wise and nationally, there is a lot of support for the art form, and many performers are having the chance to play on various stages. For instance, more than 200 artists are anticipated to perform the tiger dance at the Global Cultural Jamboree 2022, which will be sponsored by The Bharat Scouts and Guides, Karnataka, District Scouts and Guides, and Alva’s Education Foundation in December, as stated by the Mijar.
Likewise, Pili vesha is performed as a devotion to the goddess Durga during Navratri. Many devotees take part in this ceremony during the Mangalore Dasara celebration. So people, allow your father, forefather, & other seniors to relive their pasts and express what genuine satisfaction or joy is to you.
After all, 'Play to your strengths. If you aren’t good at something, do more of what you’re great at.'
