On Tuesday, October 25,2022, astrophiles at Panambur beach, Yenepoya Institute of Arts, Commerce, Science, and Management at Balmatta in Mangaluru, and Malpe beach in Udupi enjoyed a safe view of a partial solar eclipse.
Meanwhile, several believers held pujas and rituals, including fasting, in preparation for the eclipse, which was visible from 5:09 pm to 6:06 pm. The Amateur Astronomers’ Association and Yenepoya (Deemed to be University) had arranged a public viewing of the phenomenon in Mangaluru.
Rohith Rao and Dr. Sangeethalaxmi M. J. of the Amateur Astronomers’ Association organized a viewing area on the sixth floor of Yenepoya Degree College for easy and secure eclipse viewing.The organizers provided a telescopic view screen projection as well as ISO certified Solar Eclipse Goggles.
Hundreds of people gather on Malpe Beach in Udupi to witness the solar eclipse. The Malpe Development Committee and the Poornaprajna College Alumni Association as well had jointly organized a viewing of the solar eclipse on Tuesday at Malpe beach, which was led by the Poornaprajna Amateur Astronomers’ Club.
Hundreds of people, including MLA K Raghupathi Bhat, participated and watched the solar eclipse with zeal. The most recent telescope was installed at the facility. Several people used solar spectacles to observe the phenomenon.
During the eclipse, prayers and devotional services were held at Sri Krishna Math. As the solar eclipse ended, the priests took a dip in the lake.
A similar facility has been made available to the general public in Parkala, Udupi as well.
