The Dakshina Kannada Road Transport Authority (RTA) has mandated distinct colour schemes for the autorickshaws in an effort to distinguish between those used in urban and rural areas.
According to a resolution made by the RTA, the body paint for autorickshaws registered in Zone 2 (rural) should be a combination of green and yellow. According to deputy commissioner (in-charge) Kumar, only autorickshaws registered in the Zone-1 (urban) category may continue to use the black and yellow colour scheme.
The Road Transport Authority (RTA) has mandated distinct colour schemes for autorickshaws in Dakshina Kannada in an effort to distinguish between those used in urban and rural areas.
According to a judgement made by the RTA, the body paint for autorickshaws registered under the Zone-2 (rural) category must be a mandatory combination of green and yellow. According to deputy commissioner (in-charge) Kumar, only autorickshaws registered in the Zone-1 (urban) category may continue to use the black and yellow colour scheme.
At a recent RTA meeting conducted at the DC’s office, the DC, who also serves as its chairman, made a decision in this regard. According to him, the different colour scheme for autorickshaws will make it easier for the authorities to enforce permit requirements in the district.
