Mangaluru: As much as 75,400 metric tonnes of sand imported from Malaysia a few years ago were found lying at the NMPA. According to Deputy Commissioner Ravikumar M., it will be distributed and sold to local buyers in the district within the next five or four days.
At a new conference, it was stated that it was very surprising to know about such a huge quantity of sand being stored at the NMPA four days ago. Although it is not exactly M Sand, but it is of a comparable calibre.
Suitable CC cameras will be installed at the NMPA site, and the sand will be sold through lorries approved by the RTO. In the region, the cost of the sand will be Rs 10,000 for every ten tonnes. Additionally, there is 1,000 metric tonnes of sand that has been seized from various locations throughout the area. The price of such sand each load will be Rs 7,000. The details of the sand sold will be provided to the public through the department of geology, district administration, police commissioner, SP, and media, he said.
The selection of eligible contractors in CRZ and non-CRZ zones is now finalised. There are a few more processes that are in progress, and the final orders will soon be released, as stated.
