The BBMP’s ‘Fix My Street’ mobile app, which allows the public to report potholes, will be available to the public on January 1, 2023. While the Bengaluru Fix My Street app was initially launched in 2017, it was closed to the public in 2019 due to technical glitches. In response to Bengaluru’s perennial pothole problem, December 31 has been set as the new deadline for repairing all potholes in the city. Engineers from the BBMP are in charge of road maintenance and have been warned of legal action if they are found to be negligent.
It was also emphasized that agencies that dig on roads to lay cables, for example, are also responsible for closing them. The agencies that cut up the road must also restore it. They sometimes do not do this, instead cutting up roads and leaving them in this state. No work is done without the permission of ward engineers, and they will be held accountable for the road condition. The Karnataka High Court has previously slammed the BBMP and given it deadlines to fix the problem, but the problem persists. Several people have died while attempting to avoid potholes, but no BBMP officials have been held responsible.
