The grand Mangaluru Dasara celebration was officially inaugurated on Sunday, October 15, at the Kudroli Gokarnanatheshwara Temple. The inauguration ceremony was presided over by the President of Karnataka Bank, Pradeep Kumar Panja, and attended by veteran Congress leader B. Janardhana Poojary.
The Dasara Mahotsava, a ten-day extravaganza, will be held from October 15 to 25, featuring a diverse array of cultural and spiritual programs. The event kicked off with the installation of idols of goddesses Navadurga and Sharada, with a grand procession of Goddess Sharada’s idol taking place within the temple premises. Additionally, a mesmerizing tiger dance performance added to the festive atmosphere.
“As part of the Dasara festival, every day will feature pujas, religious rituals, and evening cultural programs. To add a unique touch to this year’s celebrations, a Dasara run will be organized in Mangaluru for the first time, held during the night. Furthermore, photography and videography competitions are scheduled,” announced B. Janardhana Poojary.
He went on to explain, “Throughout the nine days of celebration, a wide range of spiritual rituals will be conducted. A grand procession is planned for October 24, which will wind its way through the main roads of the city.”
In addition to the temple festivities, the Mangaluru City Corporation will illuminate prominent locations throughout the city, enhancing the overall celebratory atmosphere.
With an anticipation of a significant turnout, this year’s Dasara celebration promises to be a remarkable and vibrant event. Notable figures such as MLA Vedavyas Kamath, Mayor Sudhir Shetty Kannur, former Mayor Shashidhar Hegde, President of Kudroli Temple H. S.
