A group of 12 Enforcement Directorate members arrived at Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal’s official residence with a search warrant regarding the excise policy case. Later, they arrested him. Kejriwal is the first sitting chief minister to be arrested in Independent India’s history, though his party insists he will retain his position. This arrest followed the Delhi High Court’s decision not to shield Kejriwal from arrest in the liquor policy case. Kejriwal contested the ED summons, claiming they were illegal. The ED has summoned Kejriwal nine times in connection with the alleged money laundering case linked to the Delhi liquor excise policy scam.
