From exceptionally well equipped intensive care units in hospitals to the mobile ICUs in Ambulances, we have seen quite a few versions of the room where people hold onto life. However, containers lying around at construction sites being transformed into intensive care units is definitely unheard of. But not impossible. Behind the K C General Hospital situated in Malleshwaram, one such container-turned-into-ICU can be found. With a total of six beds and enough and more oxygen supply, the intensive care units are definitely well-equipped. This is the city’s first time converting a container into an ICU and needless to say, they have done exceptionally well.

As the world is still being haunted by the coronavirus that arrived early in March this year, the state – through this venture – is trying to ensure that if at all a second wave of the virus were to hit the streets, there would at least be enough space to accommodate all those affected. Thankfully though, the cases of people contracting the coronavirus have been coming down in the state but the government firmly believes that precautions should always be taken.

As the first container that was converted into an intensive care unit proved to be a very successful venture, the government plans on creating more of the same in the coming days. At least fifty beds have been made ready to be put use in the ICUs. these ICUs come with many-a benefits like being low in cost and the fact that it can be moved or shifted as and when such a need may arise. ICU beds have also been provided at KC General Hospital, Victoria Hospital, C V Raman Hospital, and Isolation Hospital.
