The state has over three lakh cases of corona virus infection of which two lakh are in Bengaluru alone.
The state of Karnataka reported a new all time record on Wednesday with 39,047 Covid 19 cases in the last 24 hours. This took the caseload to 14.39 lakh, the health department said. The capital city accounts for 22,596 cases of the total number even as the health infrastructure.
The high court has called the present scenario alarming because the number of beds available for the infected individuals was not proportional to the demand.
The Chief Minister has appealed to the people to follow the norms and break the chain of infections.
The minister tweeted that the two week strict rule to break the chain of Covid virus has begun. He requested the people to follow the guidelines, cooperate with the government, stay indoors and step out only if it’s an emergency. He added that together we can defeat Covid-19 pandemic.
The 14 day lockdown came into effect in Karnataka on Tuesday night to curb the spread of the disease. The lockdown was imposed as the state reported 30,000 cases in a single day.
The state reported 31,000 cases on Tuesday. State government has placed orders for one crore doses of COVID-19 vaccines for vaccination of the population in the age group of 18-44 years.
The third phase of vaccination for people above the age of 18 will begin once the schedule of supplies is received from the manufacturers.
