As the number of Covid-19 infections are spiking in the district due to the second wave, the mosques in Mangaluru are getting ready to set up corona care centres.
The leaders of the mosques have informed Mangaluru Masjid Association about the same. As discussed earlier with the experts precautionary measures would be taken in the care centres. The measure is taken as people in cities like Bengaluru, Mumbai, Delhi and other places are suffering due to the limited care centre. Hence the committee is looking forward to increasing the number of beds. The association discussed setting up Covid-19 care centres near Bunder, educational institutions in Jeppinmogaru, Babukkatte and several other places. Provided that the infrastructure is proper, arrangements have been made to take care of Covid-19 patients.
The association representatives have met the district Health officer Dr.Kishor for permission and cooperation in this regard. Certain organisations have come up to administer free vaccines. Plans are being made to administer in the mosques. Due to the scarcity of vaccines, the association has made the decision to materialize the plan in the upcoming days. Plan has been made to enrol the names of people above 18 years to administer the vaccine. The association has planned to hold blood donation camps in mosques with help of blood bank staff. The association also decided to approach the deputy commissioner for the permission to hold a blood donation camp.
