It is indeed a matter of appreciation to all those who have been extending their services to fight the battle against the virus. These covid warriors have taken their responsibilities very seriously and have extended best of their services. People’s health has always been given the first priority while making sure that their basic needs weren’t compromised. They were well aware of the sections of society who required additional support and made sure that their services reached them. Among such great Samaritans aka covid warriors we have a dad- son duo who came forward to airlift Remidvisir which was a much needed commodity in hospitals and clinics. Shridhar Kamath is the 66th Ex- president of Dakshina Kannada Chemist and Druggist association and Managing Director of M/s Gopal Kamath & company, Karangalpady, Mangaluru and his son Sanjay Kamath, managing partner at M/s Gopal Kamath & company.

One of the local pharmaceutical distributors Mediglobe, Balmatta- one of the leading business in cancer medicine wholesalers had placed an order for 150 vials of Remdivisir to be shipped from Bengaluru to Mangaluru via Durgamba Bus Service. However as some billing problems arised, the shipping wasn’t accomplished and the bus remained at Malleshwaram, Bengaluru. In such a situation, Assistant Drug Controllers in Mangaluru, Ramakanth Kunte and Shankar Naik contacted Shridhar Kamath requesting if he could do any necessary arrangements.

Shridhar and his son Sanjay got into action immediately and contacted his friend in Bengaluru and airlifted the medicines through Bengaluru International Airport. The shipping was done in an Indigo flight at 2 pm from Bengaluru to Mangaluru. The delivery was quickly done by Nithin and special thanks to the Indigo team in both the cities.

Receiving the stocks at Mangaluru International Airport, Sanjay delivered the medicine to Mediglobe and quickly the vials were distributed to the various hospitals or Clinics immediately. The immediate reach of these vials saved the Covid-19 patients in the above hospitals who were in urgent need of these medicines. Heartly thanks and congratulations to Shridhar Kamath, Sanjay Kamath, Nithin Chakravarthy, Indigo team Bengaluru and Mangaluru for the job well done.
