As per the usual trend in June, monsoon has entered the state in the first week. The clouds have entered the Karwar of Uttara Kannada district. Many districts including the state capital received heavy rains on June 4. Previous year the monsoon arrived on June 6.
There was showering in many parts of the state in the last week of May as well. According to the Indian Meteorological Department it will take another three or four days for the rain to spread across the state.
IMD has given a red alert to the coastal districts of Udupi, Uttara Kannada and Dakshina Kannada on June 5 as heavy rainfall is expected in these areas. The Malnad districts of Shivamoga, Kodagu, Chikkamangaluru and Hassan have received orange alerts for the next 24 hours. South interior districts of Ballari, Bengaluru, Bengaluru Rural Chamarajnagar, Chitradurga, Davangere, Kolar, Mandya, Ramanagara, Mysuru, Tumkuru and north interior districts of Bagalkot, Bidar, Belgavi, Dharwad, Haveri, Kalaburgi and Vijayapura on June 5.
