The CM said in a press conference that earlier the lockdown was announced till June 7 but although the infections have reduced, the spread is still on. As per the recommendation of the experts, it has been decided to extend lockdown till June 14.

Experts in Karnataka have requested the state government to start the unlock process in a phase-wise manner. Some reports suggest that the government has suggested the ‘end of circuit breaker’ model followed by Singapore.

The number of cases has been declining post lockdown and the state will continue to follow the SOPs. The last 24 hour witnessed 12,209 positive cases making the total number of infections in the state 26.95 lakh. The discharges have outnumbered the number of fresh cases hence giving relief to the state government.

Out of 12,209 total cases reported on Sunday, 2,944 were reported from the state capital. The Bengaluru city on Sunday saw 10,224 discharges and 187 deaths. The state presently has 2,54,505 active cases. The test positivity rate for the day is 7.71 per cent; case fatality rate was at 2.62 per cent.
