On Monday, the Center issued instructions to the States and Union Territories after requests for a second dosage of vaccination from those wanting to go abroad in order to supply those individuals who had completed 28 days of their initial dose.
“Taking note of the several representations received by the Ministry for allowing administration of the second dose of Covishield for such persons who have only taken the first dose of Covishield and are seeking to undertake international travel for educational purposes or employment opportunities or as part of India’s contingent,” the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare said in a statement.
According to the ministry, states and union territories were asked to designate a competent authority in each district to grant permission for such administration of the second dose of Covishield in order to provide full vaccination and facilitate international travel for all these segments of people.
According to the ministry, vaccination may be obtained in circumstances when the passport, which is one of the permitted ID papers under current standards, is used, and the passport number is printed on the certificate. According to the ministry, the service will be available to anyone who needs to travel internationally for certain specified activities up to August 31.
