The state government has eased the lockdown and allowed economic activities to resume, the Karnataka Income Minister has warned that if people do not follow the protocols in the state, another shutdown may be imposed. While Coronavirus instances may have increased in the state, this should not lead to obliviousness and an increase in the cases.
The minister claimed that people in the state should wear cover and maintain social isolation; otherwise, lockdown will be unavoidable in Karnataka. Although new Coronavirus cases are on the rise, this should not lead to complacency. People should wear masks, maintain social distance, and obtain antibodies. Or there will be consequences, and a lockdown in Karnataka will be unavoidable. The minister’s warning comes just days after the Karnataka government eased restrictions under unlock 3.0, allowing businesses, cafés, shopping complexes, private workplaces, and restricted areas to be reopened
Here are some of the restrictions/ relaxations imposed by the Karnataka government:
- All public transport- buses and metro are operating up to their seating capacity
- Worship places are only open for darshan with Covid-19 precautionary measures.
- Offices and business establishments have been allowed to function at full capacity.
- Bangalore Metropolitan Transport Corporation (BMTC) will operate between 5 AM and 9 PM with all precautionary measures, and 4,500 buses will operate in the city and suburban areas.
- The night curfew will continue between 9 PM and 5 AM, though the weekend curfew has been lifted.
- The theatres, cinema halls, and pubs will remain closed, while swimming pools, sports complexes, and stadiums are permitted for competitive training and practice purposes by strictly adhering to COVID appropriate behavior.
