As the Covid-19 test positive rate (TPR) in Karnataka decreases below 5% in all 31 districts, the government is planning to relax night curfews and reopen pubs on July 19, as Unlock 4.0 is set to take effect. Following the implementation of Unlock 3.0, which lifted the weekend curfew and reopened retail malls on July 5, the administration was waiting for the TPR to decrease below 5% in all areas before allowing the fourth level of relaxation.
In Unlock 3.0, the Covid crisis in Karnataka showed the desired impact. According to officials, the CM is in favor of additional relaxation. Before unveiling Unlock 4.0, the Chief Minister is likely to convene a meeting among the group of ministers on Friday or Saturday to consider the proposals. Until this week, Kodagu and Chikkamaglauru were the only districts with TPRs well above 5%, with the rest of the state falling well short.
