Hotels, hospitals, lodges, wedding halls, catering, and other enterprises with more than 30 households are required to build On-Site Composting Units and handle trash at the source. All bulk solid waste generators were given notice of the situation. Given the severity of the current waste disposal system, all parties were given a three-month deadline to start wet waste processing in their buildings. The commissioner was also given instructions to construct composting facilities using technology developed by firms certified by the National Green Tribunal (NGT) to treat moist waste.
As the commissioner had warned, If bulk solid waste generators do not comply with the standards and do not build onsite trash processing facilities by October 31, they will be fined twice as much every day beginning November 1 during the rubbish collection drive.
