Due to an increase in Covid-19 cases in Kerala and the Dakshina Kannada area, interstate bus services between Dakshina Kannada and Kasaragod have been halted for one week. Dakshina Kannada’s district government has also prohibited all sorts of meetings, including political, religious, and social events, till August 10. Daily travelers between Kasaragod and Dakshina Kannada should have their RT-PCR tests done every seven days. On July 31, a meeting of the Dakshina Kannada District Disaster Management Authority, headed by the MP and held at the deputy commissioner’s office, decided in this respect.
The travel of buses between Dakshina Kannada and Kasaragod in Kerala has been restricted from August 1 to 7, according to the Deputy Commissioner. In Dakshina Kannada, Covid-19 instances have been on the rise in recent days. To avoid the spread of viruses, we must take the appropriate precautions. Students from Kerala will need to present RT-PCR negative certificates to enter Dakshina Kannada. Students from Kerala who are staying in Dakshina Kannada dormitories must stay in quarantine for one week.
As per a health specialist, the district will also increase Covid-19 testing, and those who test positive will be transferred to mandatory Covid care centers (CCC). The district has also instructed the police to file an FIR if infected people are seen roaming outdoors. A residence with two or more positive cases will be declared a micro containment zone in addition to the existing containment plans.
Although public meetings are prohibited until August 10, weddings with 50 guests and family are permitted. If huge crowds are discovered during wedding ceremonies, charges will be filed against the wedding facility proprietors. Home guards will be assigned to monitor such events, as well as drives against the mask and social distancing offenses.
