The dawn of a new era in rural healthcare. This is too good to be true! Cardiology at doorsteps (CAD), a pioneer in rural healthcare, gets a boost with the addition of KSRTC mobile ICU and ECG telemedicine at your doorstep, with the support of the Karnataka state government and MLA Rajesh Naik.
Dr. Padmanabh Kamath, professor and HOD cardiology at KMC, Mangalore, is the founder of the Cardiology at Your Doorstep Foundation. Cardiology at Doorsteps is a flagship WhatsApp group initiated by Dr Padmanabh Kamath in February 2018, to help patients in rural and remote parts of the country. So far, about 30,000 ECGs have been posted in two Whatsapp groups and more than 5,000 heart attacks have been diagnosed. The group has saved more than 10,000 lives through these initiatives and has been instrumental in installing 232 ECG machines in rural health centres and Jan Aushadhi Kendras, Dr. Kamath said.
The only objective is to save lives by using modern IT infrastructure and supplying medical equipment to remote areas. Lots of strange things happened around us during the Covid pandemic. Many people, particularly the poor and elderly, become estranged as a result of quarantine rules or isolating themselves out of fear of Covid. As a result of the delays in diagnosis and treatment, many disasters have occurred. With the intention of overcoming all of these difficulties, they have also introduced a website, in addition to a 24-hour Cardiac Helpline as an active interface. It was released on this independence day. The thought of releasing our patients from their reliance on others and granting them independence and freedom.
