A trip to Ladakh is not for the faint of heart; it is the stuff of tales. Every teenager’s desire is to take a road trip to Ladakh with their buddies. However, these 18-19-year-olds from Dakshina Kannada, Kadaba Taluk, have taken up a mission to walk from Mangalore to Ladakh.
On August 16th, at around 7 am, Nishanth from Konaje grama, Samprith from Kutrapadi grama, and Sabastin from Aithur grama, took up this mission to walk for farmers. With the intention of meeting many farmers and agricultural fields on their way and listening to the experiences they share with the fields and sharing the same with other people. They are sharing daily updates about their journey on their youtube channel. The other goal is to make history, as no one under the age of 18-19 has ever walked to Ladakh. They have received a lot of love and support from the people all around them.
It’s been a week since they started their adventure. They arrived in Honnavar today, with the goal of reaching Gokarna by the end of the day. The trek is approximately 3300 kilometres long and might take more or less three months to complete, with a budget of more or less Rs. 15,000 per person. The lads have been sleeping in temples, stations, and gas stations, among other places. On this wonderful tour, they have met incredible people and made new friends and memories to take home with them. Documents, clothing, power banks, chargers, and other necessities were carried. There were no food items packed.
They have a message for everyone: “Don’t formulate a plan and then wait for it to happen; make it happen right now.” Wishing all luck and success to these young lads!
