On Saturdays from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., City Police will dedicate a day to women’s safety and security through Emergency Response Support System (ERSS) 112. It’s also an effort to popularise ERSS and reach out to the general public, particularly women.
N Shashi Kumar, the city’s police commissioner along with around 100 police officers with the level of PSI and above will be on hand to deal with a variety of concerns, including student problems, molestation, and family problems, Harassment in the workplace, cyber concerns, and threats, to name a few. Each team will have a female officer or employee, and all information will be kept confidential.
The City Police Department has around 19 vehicles devoted to ERSS, with a 15-minute average response time. Within the municipal borders, the response time is roughly five minutes. Officers such as the Commissioner, DCP, ACP, or Police Inspector will be present in ERSS cars for every call received on ERSS-112 and will attend to the situation. The teams will be on standby if the number of calls exceeds a certain threshold. According to Shashi Kumar, approximately 25 meetings will be organized in residential areas to raise awareness.
1.Today overall they received 38 calls on ERSS 112 and more than 200 calls to various officers personal/official number to discuss about the program.
2.All ERSS vehicles(19), Inspector Jeeps,Highway Patrol(7) vehicles, Interceptors(3),PCR(13) and 2 wheelers were used in today’s drive
3.More than 100 offficers and staff attended the program including CP Sir all DCPs and all ACPs
4.152 small and big awareness meetings were done in ladies hostels, universities, educational institutions, public places and public spaces.
5.CP Sir personally addressed women staff and students at Athena Hospital,Mangalore University.DCP L&O was in charge of South subdivision and DCP C&T oversaw the process in North subdivision
6.Many suggestions for improvement was received through all meetings which will help in overall improvement in performance of ERSS.
