Mangalore International Airport was named to Adani International Airport after the private company took over the handling operations of the Airport. This led to protests and an appeal was also filed. Social activist Dilraj Alva told in a press conference that the Airport has been renamed as the Mangalore International Airport following the protests.
The Adani group had changed the name of the Airport board after taking over the duties. However it was through the RTO that they knew there was no scope of changing the name of the Airport in the agreement that took place between The Mangalore Airport and the Adani group. After the protests and Appeal the Adani group removed the name board and replaced it with the new name board as before on September 10 2021.
