In the Dakshina Kannada district, schools are to be opened following all the Covid protocols. The concerned authorities should take care of the children without disturbing them, said the District Collector. He spoke about opening schools in the district, chaired by a meeting held in the sheriff’s office. The classes for the 8th and 10th standards will start on September 17, for the 6th and 7th, and for the first PUC students on September 20.
Already, 99 percent of school teachers and school staff have been vaccinated. The district already has 261 children with Covid treatment and if the children are diagnosed with Covid symptoms, they should be given proper treatment and the relevant authorities should look after the primary contact.
After the commencement of school, students must wear masks and teachers should be provided with appropriate information to maintain social distance. Schools should not be forced to pay fees for children after they start. School heads should provide toilets and infrastructure in schools.
Online classes, along with physical classes, should be continued after school starts. Attending physical classes requires the permission of parents. Covid tests of teachers and school staff should be conducted from time to time. He said that the respective institutions should take care of the health of the students’ families and ensure that they do not have any covid symptoms. Still, children from Kerala need to stay in student hostels. If not, take classes online.
