KSRTC bus service to Thalapady for students

As the government permitted classes for students from class 6 to PUC, there has been an increase in the number of people traveling between Talapady and Mangalore. Sahayathri, an organization of daily commuters from Talapady to Mangalore requested the Karnataka Chief Minister to resume the KSRTC services between Kerala border and Mangalore.

During the pre lockdown times, government busses were operating between Kasargod and Mangalore in every three minute interval. These busses were stopped after the first lockdown and the daily commuters  between the states have been affected terribly. A sahayathri member told the media that busses are operational between Kasargod and Talapady, while the students have to depend on largely filled city busses from Talapady to Mangalore. Hence they’ve made a request to resume the KSRTC bus operations. Presently only city busses are operating between Talapady and Mangalore.

Students and daily commuters are allowed to Karnataka with an RT-PCR negative certificate while they are expected to repeat the test every seven days.

The Deputy commissioner responded to the request affirmatively. Although he said that it is not possible to start regular bus services between the points until the number of cases in the neighboring state reduces, he assured that bus service can be provided to students during the peak hours.

As a reply to the tweet made be the sahayathri, the Karnataka SRTC responded that their complaint has been registered and has been sent to the department concerned.
