Tagore Park is located on St Aloysius College Road, near the City Centre Mall. It has a lighthouse with a height of 33 feet that was built in the year 1900. Under the Social Service and Community Development (SSCD) activities, the NCC AIR WING cadets of St Aloysius College (Autonomous), Mangaluru, 6 Kar Air Squadron NCC, took on the task of cleaning this beautiful park, which was in poor condition due to the ongoing pandemic.
The cleanliness drive took place on September 21, 2021, from 7:30 a.m. to 9:00 a.m. This activity was carried out by 59 cadets under the supervision of NCC AIR WING ANO, Flying Officer Alwyn Stephen Misquith. The hardworking cadets polished and cleaned the greasy statues. The pedestrian path was cleaned of all kinds of litter and waste. The cadets’ hard work and dedication transformed the park’s overall appearance.
The cleanliness drive culminated in a march from the park to St. Aloysius College Autonomous, with cadets carrying banners and placards with slogans, spreading awareness about keeping our country clean and green. Wing Commander Chandan Garg, the principal of the College and the Commanding Officer of 6 Kar Air Squadron, congratulated and appreciated the cadets’ efforts, as well as the successful planning and execution of the cleanliness drive.
