The Mangaluru Municipal Corporation (MCC) deployed CCTV cameras at designated black spots in the city boundaries to combat the threat of public trash. The MCC commissioner noted that the MCC has frequently organized public awareness campaigns about the health risk and annoyance that irresponsible trash in public spaces poses.

The cameras caught miscreants in three vehicles disposing of garbage near Nandi Gudda crematorium on September 20. The car numbers were recorded, and the suspects were charged at the Mangaluru South police station. Citizens are hereby cautioned not to litter in public places in the interest of maintaining health, hygiene, and cleanliness in Mangaluru city, he mentioned.
