Abhijith Hegde, also known as Weird Sounding Dude, is a Mangalore-native Indian music producer and DJ who was born in Mangalore on April 28, 1990. His sound spectrum coincides with the emotions of the listeners, and these frequencies on the spectrum guarantee that the audience will be taken on a time-lapsed musical trip, with sounds spanning from Progressive House to Techno to Tech House, occasionally echoing Deep House frequencies. Weird Sounding Dude won the “Reset” DJ Competition in 2014 and played at the Bangalore edition of the Reset Festival.
The Weird Sounding Dude won the “Sunburn Wavo Contest” later that year (2014) and played at the Sunburn Festival, Asia’s largest dance music festival, SunBurnFestival. was also nominated for a VH1 MyFavorite DJ of the Year award in 2014. Techno DJ is a subcategory.
Abhijith Hegde reared in a musically deficient home. He had never been into music and was more of a sports fan until 2011 when he was introduced to electronic dance music and became completely enamored with it. Weird Sounding Dude has played as a DJ in venues such as F Bar, The Warehouse, Sanctum, Counter Culture, and Q-Bar in and around Bangalore and Chennai. he has also played at Sunburn Goa and Reset music festivals. He made a few famous DJ guest mixes for frisky Radio, Proton Radio, and other stations.
Abhijith Hegde began his career as a music producer in 2013, and within a year, he had releases on prestigious electronic dance music labels like Traum Schallplatten, Juicebox Music, and System Recordings.
Hernan Cattaneo, who supported the remix in his Resident Podcast, and CID INC., who charted and supported the remix in his promo mix and a live concert at Akvarium Budapest, Hungary, praised Weird Sounding Dude’s remix for Diego Azocar Homenaje. Balnazzar was released in 2015 on Traum Schallplatten, one of the oldest Techno imprints in Electronic Dance Music.
Mitch Alexander of Change Underground invited Weird Sounding Dude for an interview and to discuss his upcoming remix release of Stephano Pfrunebelli’s “Looking For Silence” on Symmetric Recordings. which showcases new talent from around the world, is back for its twentieth episode, this time selected by Tony McGuinness of UK powerhouse Above & Beyond. DJ and producer Weird Sounding Dude’s song “Hyper Dream” is a display of Indian talent. After prior albums on The Soundgarden and Sudbeat, Hoomidaas, Hyper Dream’ is now available to stream on all major digital platforms.
