The Mangalore City Corporation (MCC) had previously determined that from November 1, a penalty would be levied on anybody who violated the city’s rules. As per Mayor, bulk trash providers are unsure about the method to utilize for composting wet garbage, thus they will not be penalized. The MCC has decided to hold another session to educate apartment owners’ associations and other bulk trash providers about the many composting processes that are available.
As a result, the company will host another session to educate apartment owners’ groups and other bulk garbage providers about the many composting options that are available. They will not face any penalties until then, and the motion will be temporarily halted. As per the MCC’s Solid Trash Treatment Bylaws and the Solid Waste Management Rules, 2016, flats and enterprises with more than 30 households are required to install on-site composting units and process waste at the source, according to a news statement issued a fortnight ago.
All bulk solid waste generators have received many alerts and news statements about the situation. Despite this, just a few people have responded to the directions. As a result, units that do not follow the guidelines will be required to pay a deposit of Rs15 per flat at the beginning of each month. Before turning over the rubbish, the fine receipts must be given to the driver of the solid waste collection vehicle. In the second month, a fee of Rs25 per flat will be imposed. The challan for paying the penalty can be acquired from the corporate office’s health division.
