Puneeth Rajkumar, who died last month at the age of 46, will be honoured posthumously with the Karnataka Ratna Award. State Government has decided to honour late Sri Puneet Rajkumar with Karnataka Ratna award posthumously, said Karnataka Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai’s official Twitter handle.
The Karnataka Ratna is the state’s highest civilian award. In the last three decades, the Karnataka government has bestowed the highest civilian honours on nine achievers, and Puneeth Rajkumar will be the second person from the Kannada industry to receive the award after his father, Dr Rajkumar. Puneeth Rajkumar was the son of veteran actor Rajkumar. Last month, he was cremated with full military honours. The actor, who appeared in films such as Mourya, Arasu, Raam, and Anjani Putra, is survived by his wife Ashwini Revanth and has two children.
