Covid-19: India allows quarantine-free entry for travellers from 99 countries

Nearly 20 months after restrictions were imposed due to COVID-19 in India, quarantine-free entry for international travellers from 99 countries that have agreed to mutual acceptance of COVID-19 vaccination certificates was reinstated on Monday, Nov 15. Travelers from the 99 countries listed under “Category A,” which include the United States, the United Kingdom, France, Germany, Australia, the Netherlands, and Russia, must complete a self-declaration form on the Air Suvidha portal (newdelhiairport.in) before to their scheduled flight. According to the new Guidelines for International Arrivals issued by the Union health ministry on November 11, they must also upload a negative COVID-19 RT-PCR report.

The RT-PCR test should be done within 72 hours before starting on the journey. According to the instructions, each passenger must also sign a declaration confirming the report’s authenticity, and if discovered to be false, will face criminal charges. There are nations that have signed agreements with India to recognise vaccination certificates for vaccines that are either domestically recognised by the World Health Organization. Similarly, some nations do not have such an agreement with India, but they exempt Indian citizens who have been completely vaccinated against COVID-19 using nationally or WHO-recognized vaccines, according to the standards.
