On Saturday, January 28, there was a whirlwind at Gandhi Maidan, which terrified and surprised everyone.
When the whirlwind, which spiralled into the sky and threw dust and knocked people off their feet, was experienced, young people were playing cricket at the ground.
Waste that had been left lying around and dried-up vegetation, including leaves, were also carried into the air by the wind. For a few minutes, everyone stood and watched the whirlwind.
Similar whirlwinds have previously been seen in Karkala, which is close to the Western Ghats. The surrounding areas of Karkala, Moodbidri, Achekaru, Belavu, and Malpe have recently been subject to such whirlwinds.
