As per the RTO, there will be no examination of new vehicles for first-time registration

Following amendments to the Motor Automobiles Act of 1988, the Transport Department has said that physical examination of new vehicles for first-time registration is no longer required. As per a press statement from the department, a mechanism has been implemented that allows completely completed cars acquired through authorized dealers to be registered without having to take them to RTOs and have them inspected by vehicle inspectors.

As per the press release, dealers can submit an online application using the Vahan-4 site and pay the relevant fees and taxes to the RTOs. After accepting the applications online, the relevant officials provide registration permission, and the registration number is assigned online.
