Banjarumale In Karnataka proves to be a ‘Virus- Proof’ village

When the entire world is battling the coronavirus pandemic, a village in the Taluk earned the distinction of not allowing the dreaded virus to enter the village during both first and second wave. The major reason for this success is the rules that the villagers followed for people residing here and the ones outside. This village is in the remote part of neriya panchayath limits In the Taluk.

Many people under the same grama panchayath have tested positive while these villagers took extreme precautions and locked themselves down in their village. Two youths of the village visit the town to buy essentials and ensure that they take hot water baths before coming in contact with anybody else.

This village is at a distance of 35 KM from the Belthangady town. These villagers mostly consume organic vegetables. In the midst of the deadly pandemic, these villagers are surrounded by beautiful nature, clean air and water.

The swab test of all villagers in the first and second wave was reported to be negative. The villages have not organised any religious gathering over a year. This effort needs to be seen and appreciated by everyone.
