According to data, fresh positive cases among students and teachers are declining. There are also not many fresh cases from the past four days. This gave relief to the schools in Dakshina Kannada., also cases in educational institutions have reduced drastically. As of Saturday, a total of 504 children and 81 teachers tested positive for Covid-19.
Sudhakar K, DDPI, Dakshina Kannada, said that no schools have been closed in the past few days. “It’s a sign that students and teachers are free from Covid-19 at the moment,” he said.
The vaccination drive is also going at a faster pace. As on Saturday, “A total of 51,363 students got vaccinated out of 55,298 eligible beneficiaries, vaccination of 3,925 students is pending. ” said Sudhakar.
The officials of the department of public instruction added that even the attendance percentage which was low for a few weeks is improving. “Most children who stayed back as a precautionary measure against Covid-19, are returning to campus,” said an official. “Everything in schools is returning to normal, as the cases are reducing by the day,” added another official.
Dr Ashok H, nodal officer for Covid-19 in Dakshina Kannada, said that the positivity rate in the district is going down by the day. On January 31, the positivity rate was around 5.5%, which has come down to 4% on Saturday.
