The board has made it clear to not release a merit list for the board 2021. The notice stated that Class X 2021 will not be having a merit list and a subject-wise 0.1 merit list as well. The class 10th examination was planned for May 4 which was later canceled due to the increased number of infections due to the pandemic. The results have been declared based on the objective criterion released by the board. An assessment of 80 marks was done by the schools. The assessments were based on exams and tests held in the present academic year.
As a response to the petition filed in Delhi High court over the method of evaluation, the CBSE said that the criterion for evaluation has been prepared by a team of experts and no school will be able to do injustice with any student. The new evaluation criteria have been formed because of the existing crisis due to the pandemic. It has also been specified that the schools have no individual role in evaluation. The evaluation has been done by the resulting committee having external members.
Students who feel the declared results inconvenient can appear for a written examination when the situation becomes conductive. The board said that this opportunity will be given to any student who is not satisfied with the results and wish to give an attempt in the descriptive examination. The results of about 16,639 candidates are yet to be announced. CBSE will conduct the exam for 36,841 private and patrachar candidates between August 6 and September 15.
