Today, The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) told the Supreme Court that Class 12 results would be released by July 31 and will take into account students’ performance over three years or from Class 10, outlining its assessment plan after examinations were suspended due to the Covid issu

It is said that the total scores should be based on the school’s previous performance in Class 12 board examinations. The CBSE informed the bench of justices that about 40% of the scores will be based on Class 12 pre-board examinations, 30% on Class 11 final exam, and 30% on the best-of-three Class 10 grades. Practicals will be for 100 marks, and students would be graded based on the scores submitted by their schools.

“If a student is not able to fulfill the qualifying standards, which are now stretched across three years of study, they will be put in the ‘essential repeat’ or ‘compartment’ category. Students who are dissatisfied with their results may reappear when the CBSE conducts the Class 12 board examinations “The Attorney General informed the court.

During the hearing, the court stated that there should be a dispute resolution panel for students who want their final results corrected, as well as deadlines for when the results would be released and the optional exams would be held. The Supreme Court gave CBSE and CISCE two weeks to provide objective standards for grading Class 12 students, who rely on these results for college and competitive examinations.
