As the possibility of a third coronavirus wave grows, the Centre has instructed ten states to consider implementing stringent controls in the 46 districts where the positive rate is above 10%. Maharashtra, Kerala, Odisha, Tamil Nadu, Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh, Mizoram, Assam, Manipur, and Meghalaya are the ten states affected.
The Centre has requested states to explore limitations such as restricting or prohibiting user mobility and crowding since these states are experiencing an increase in COVID-19 instances, which is causing worry. Aside from that, the Centre stated that there were 53 additional districts where the COVID positive rate was between 5% and 10% and that the states should increase the number of tests conducted to discover the instances.
The Union Health Ministry further warned these governments that any laxity may exacerbate the situation in these areas, and as a result, in these states.
